Playground Project Underway

This spring we have been working on improving our playground space in hopes of creating an outdoor classroom.  We enlisted the help of local volunteers to level, expand, resurface, and put in a new fence.  Our playground is now ready for the addition of our mud kitchen, ball wall, music wall, chalk board, sensory and outdoor art tables.  We could not be more thrilled about this new outdoor space!

Earth Day Celebration at Grelen Nursery

We had a picture perfect day to celebrate Earth Day at Grelen Market & Nursery.  The children played in the sandbox, learned about the importance of trees, enjoyed a beautiful hike, were treated to delicious homemade lemon blueberry ice cream, and planted a seed in an eggshell to bring home.  What a fabulous day!

Countries & Cultures Day

Our curriculum on culture assists children in understanding the differences in various types of cultures. The goal of this curriculum is to teach cultural awareness and in doing so promote knowledge of self as well as tolerance of others.

This year we hosted our second annual Countries & Cultures Day at St. Thomas.  We invited our friends from Orange Presbyterian Weekday School and the junior kindergartners from Grymes Memorial School to join us on our travels.  There were representatives from Ireland, Kenya, South Korea, Puerto Rico, Denmark, Monaco, Germany, China, France, and India.  The students “traveled” to all of the countries, having their passports stamped as they made their way around the world.
